TEACHING & KINDERGARTEN
Our aim is to provide much needed assistance and support to children who are often overlooked. At times, teachers may find their hands full and are unable to attend to each and every child at the same time. V2 Volunteers help to fill that gap by bringing every child to their fullest potential. Volunteers on the Teaching project will be working with 5 to 12 year old typically in classrooms of 20 to 30 students. While the kindergarten are aged 3 to 5 years-old and are full of energy and an enthusiasm for learning.volunteers.
Teaching any age group requires a creative and independent mind set. Volunteers will be teaching from the government issued curriculum, working alongside a local teacher providing extra support and one to one attention to children. There are also plenty of opportunities to develop and teach lessons outside of the curriculum. In the past, volunteers have created special computer literacy classes, girl empowerment workshops and etiquette lessons. Local teachers will provide guidance and support for both the academic and non-academic lessons.
This project is well suited to energetic volunteers who love working with children and are passionate about supporting their development. If you’re new to international volunteering, this project is a great option as you will be working alongside local teachers who can guide you in your daily tasks and activities.
When volunteering on this project, you will spend between 4 and 6 hours per day assisting the teachers at a local elementary school. The teachers will provide guidance for both the academic and non-academic lessons. During the school holidays and exam time (early January, April, July to August, and late December) the Teaching and Kindergarten project closes temporarily. Often an informal version of the project runs. However, volunteers may need to change project during closures.

If you have strong initiative, creativity and a passion for teaching then this project is perfect for you. You will be following the local curriculum but also be given the opportunity to create and teach your own lesson plans.

The best part for me was the experience in the schools. I was only able to visit once this time but I loved the pleasant spirit the children and staff had and the exceptional minds of the young children. They were truly a joy to be around and I cannot wait to go back to see them again!
